Nextek Director of the Digital Domains, Liang Downey, was in Washington, DC, this week to meet with some key Michigan lawmakers about IEEE-USA National Energy Recommendations for increasing energy efficiency in the US. Meeting with staff members from the offices of Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Representative Gary Peters (MI-09), Liang and IEEE-USA representatives explained – among other things -- the importance of expanding the use of renewable and distributed generation energies, and strengthening our existing electrical infrastructure and the Smart Grid.
Liang was also there advocating the rapid adoption of a universal DC power standard to become law in all commercial buildings, as this will increase energy efficiency and pave the way for the easy and widespread use of renewable energy sources such as solar PV and wind turbine technology.
Energy efficiency is an essential element in any comprehensive national energy policy and we at Nextek will continue to promote our energy strategy and be part of the national dialogue about how the future of energy can be smarter, better and more reliable.
