What happened to Sharp's 185 Watt module? Here is a letter from Sharp:
Friday, February 04, 2005
To our valued customers:
In an effort to better serve the market in the immediate future with higher volumes of the industry’s best solar modules, Sharp is indefinately suspending production of the 185 watt (NT-185U1) solar module, effective immediately. We are making this strategic shift as a direct result of our effort to gain a greater yield of
high-efficiency photovoltaic cells from our wafer manufacturing process. Sharp is maximizing the volume of cells from each silicon ingot in order to provide a greater volume of overall watts and solar panels. Our cells and modules will still be held to the highest quality control standards that the industry expects from Sharp products. Sharp is committed to supplying our North American market with the highest quality photovoltaic products, at the highest volumes possible. We are continuing to grow at a rate faster and more aggresively than any of our competitors, and will strive to maintain this growth as the market demands.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Matt Lugar
